‘BJP will pay heavily for toppling MVA govt’
The Free Press Journal|September 21, 2024
AICC general secretary in charge of Maharashtra, Ramesh Chennithala, condemned the move of the Modi government to have non-Muslims on Waqf boards.

<

“Can Muslims be on the board of the Guruvayur temple?” he asked, referring to the famous Krishna temple in Kerala. Chennithala emphasised that Congress is strongly opposed to the bill and will fight it tooth and nail. He was taking part in a panel discussion organised by the New Indian Express on Friday.

Coming down heavily on the ruling Mahayuti coalition, he said the people of Maharashtra will teach the ruling Mahayuti a lesson in the upcoming assembly elections.

He said that toppling the MVA government by the BJP was met with resentment from the voters. This, he argued, was one of the key reasons why the saffron party performed poorly in the Lok Sabha elections, winning only nine seats compared to the 23 it won in 2019.
