The BMC has penalised the contractor working on the reconstruction of the Gopal Krishna Gokhale bridge for missing the November 14 deadline of completing the project's second phase. Till September, fines up to Rs3 crore were levied on the contractor, while the latest amount is not yet revealed.
Owing to the delays, the crucial east-west connector in Andheri will now entirely open in April 30, 2025 in place of the original December 2023 schedule.
