India is rapidly advancing towards the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), with government policies and schemes playing a crucial role.

The government has fostered significant investment and innovation in the EV sector through schemes like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI).

What's Happening?

On September 15, 2021, the government implemented the PLI scheme for the EV sector with an approved budget of Rs 25,938 crore over five years. So far, 50 out of 74 applications received from automakers under this scheme have been approved.
