The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission has proposed four revisions to the regulations governing net metering for rooftop solar PV systems. These modifications aim to update and improve the existing framework, resulting in improved integration and management of solar power inside the state's energy infrastructure.
Distribution licensees must now update the available capacity of their distribution transformers on a yearly basis. This information will be sent to the Commission to support the installation of rooftop solar PV systems under the net metering scheme. For installations up to 6 kW, any necessary distribution infrastructure upgrades, including transformers, will be paid by the Distribution Licensee's Annual Revenue Requirement. For installations above 6 kW, the applicant will bear system strengthening expenditures in accordance with particular criteria.
