MUTE PROTEST - MVA seeks security for women & enactment of Shakti Bill
'Govt standing with culprits'

Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray and MLA Aaditya Thackeray along with top party leaders carried out a silent protest near the Shiv Sena Bhavan in Dadar. “It is a pity that instead of taking action against the culprits it is standing with them,” Thackeray alleged. He said Maharashtra has never seen a government as “shameless” as the incumbent dispensation.

A day after the Bombay High Court restrained the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance from bringing Maharashtra to a halt with a bandh, the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (SP) and the Congress staged huge but peaceful mute protests across the state despite inclement weather. They demanded security for women and the implementation of the Shakti Criminal Laws (Maharashtra Amendment) Bill, passed by the MVA regime in December 2021. The protestors sported black bands on their mouths, arms and wrists and carried black flags and posters-placards demanding justice for the two nursery girls.
