A 19-year-old computer engineering student was allegedly sexually and monetarily exploited by a 27-year-old man after being approached on social media for a modelling assignment, according to police. On Tuesday evening, the Bhandup police arrested the primary accused, Rahul Chavan, from Bandra. Chavan, along with two others, also extorted more than Rs 45 lakh from the victim and her family.
The victim, a resident of Bhandup, is currently studying in a city college. According to her statement to the Bhandup police, she was approached on Instagram by an individual named Hardik, who offered to help her build a career in modelling, holding out dreams of crores of rupees in earnings. Hardik claimed to be associated with a well-known company that represents Dharma Productions, Netflix, and other OTT platforms.
