PM Narendra Modi and Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez on Monday inaugurated the manufacturing facility for tactical military transport aircraft C295 in Vadodara. The Tata plant will be India's first private facility to build a military aircraft. After the initial hullabaloo, with Modi and Sanchez participating in a vibrant road show, the project seems to have hit a pocket of air turbulence.
The opposition parties, including the Congress and the Shiv Sena (UBT), have lashed out at the Centre, claiming that the project was meant to be set up in Nagpur. It is alleged that the venue was shifted to Gujarat at the Prime Minister's behest and both the Centre and Maha-yuti have conspired to ensure the 'wholesale surrender of Maharashtra's interests.
