Nearly two years after a 12-day-old infant's mouth was allegedly taped with a pacifier at the BMC-run Savitribai Phule Maternity Home, a three-member committee appointed by the hospital has informed the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) in an affidavit that the accused nurse, Savita Bhoir, was asked to go on mandatory leave.
The incident was first reported by the FPJ on February 23, 2023.
The affidavit also stated that an FIR has been registered against three nurses, including the one who taped the baby's mouth, and charged under sections of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 (JJA).
