In collaboration with the Mumbai crime branch, the Chhattisgarh police have launched a hunt for Dinesh Kumar Vyas aka Dinesh Bhai, an alleged Ahmedabad-based hawala operator reportedly linked to the Mahadev online betting app. A nationwide lookout notice for Dinesh was issued on Wednesday.
Dinesh was reportedly last seen at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, attempting to board a flight to Nagpur around 4.30pm on Wednesday. However, he managed to escape, while another associate, Bheekhan Vyas, was detained by Mumbai police during the boarding process.
During questioning, Bheekhan revealed that Dinesh had instructed him to meet at the security gate during check-in but he never came. He claimed they had arrived from Gujarat on Wednesday and were scheduled to depart for Nagpur on an Indigo flight. He said he was unaware about Dinesh's absconding suspect' status.
