In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Ministers of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, Nitish Kumar, and Yogi Aditya Nath on Thursday, the Vishwa Jain Sangathan sought the sealing of the India-Nepal border to ensure that animals meant for sacrifices at the festival are not transported from India to Nepal.

Sanjay Jain, national president of Vishwa Jain Sangathan, said that the government should enforce rules prohibiting unlicensed cattle trading across the border.
