The government issued a plastic ban in the state in 2022.
The first order was issued by the Environment Department on Nov 30, 2022. It banned the manufacture of plastic bags less than 50 microns thick in the city, and at the same time, the sale and use of stock were also banned. Violators of this ban were penalised. A month later, on Dec 31, 2022, the government issued a new order instructing a ban on plastic bags and articles of thickness less than 120 microns.
