Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday pitched for reforms at established global institutions to create an equitable world order. Speaking at the BRICS Summit in Russia's Kazan, the top Indian diplomat repeated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message of peace, saying it was not an era of war.
"How do we create a more equitable global order? First, by strengthening and expanding platforms of an independent nature, and by widening the choices in different domains and minimising undue reliance on those that can be leveraged. This is really where BRICS can make a difference for the Global South," the foreign minister said.
He added that more members should be added to the UN Security Council in both the permanent and the non-permanent categories.
