Pollution board consent not taken for MTHL casting vard

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) didn’t procure the mandatory certificate from Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) to set up the casting yard at Ulwe for the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), also called Atal Setu.

This was revealed in a reply to a Right to Information (RTI) application filed by environmentalist BN Kumar from Navi Mumbai.

A month ago, an RTI query had also revealed that the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) had not entered into any agreement with MMRDA for the 12 hectare casting yard. MMRDA had occupied the plot for nearly six years for the work on the Rs17,840 crore bridge.
