The case came to light when the student's health deteriorated the following morning on Tuesday, prompting her to be taken to the local government hospital.
The incident began with the crying of a newborn heard by the hostel staff early in the morning. Upon investigation, it was revealed that the student, who had delivered the child in the hostel bathroom, threw the baby from the bathroom window into the backyard.
Fortunately, despite the biting cold overnight, the newborn was found alive and immediately rushed to the hospital for intensive treatment. The child was later admitted to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) of Korba's Medical College Hospital, where pediatricians reported the baby to be around 7 to 8 months premature, with some health complications due to a lack of oxygen and injury marks on its legs. The baby's condition remains critical.
