India's economic growth, also known as Gross Domestic Product (GDP), slowed to its weakest in nearly two years, expanding by just 5.4% during the July-September 2024 quarter.
This marks a sharp drop from the 8.1% growth recorded in the same period last year. The slowdown is mainly due to weaker manufacturing and mining activities. Despite the decline, India remains the fastest-growing major economy, staying ahead of China's 4.6% growth during the same period.
