Surat keeps alive unique Sadeli craft

National Institute of Fashion Technology Daman Campus organized an interaction with Rakeshkumar, a master craftsman of Sadeli, a traditional craft native to Surat, Gujarat.

This intricate art form, with roots tracing back to 16th-century Persia (modern-day Iran). The craft's origins date back 1200 years, with Persian artisans migrating to India through the silk route and settling in Sanjan, South Gujarat. The story of this migration is documented in the "Kissa-a-sanjan" (Paris migration book) and acknowledged by Persian writers.
