Geniben Thakor emerged as a star candidate of the Congress party for clinching a significant victory in the Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat, ending a decade-long dominance by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the region. Thakor, a two-time MLA and the sole female Congress representative in the Gujarat Assembly, has been celebrated for her relentless advocacy of women's issues and her ability to work across party lines.
Thakor won with 662,630 votes, leading by 33,806 votes over BJP candidate DrRekhaben Hiteshbhai Chaudhari. Her success can be attributed to her deep connection with her constituents and an innovative campaign strategy that resonated with voters.
