The Remarkable Journey of Motilal Oswal

Whenever lists of the richest people are published, they typically rank individuals based solely on their wealth.

The Remarkable Journey of Motilal Oswal

Similarly, in job interviews, candidates are evaluated not only on their knowledge but also on their overall personality. When Miss Universe or Miss World titles are awarded, contestants are judged on both their beauty and intelligence. However, the wealthiest individuals are often assessed solely by the amount of wealth they possess, overlooking other important aspects of their character and achievements.

I have known Motilal Oswal since 1981, when we both studied at RVG Hostel for our Chartered Accountancy. Over the past four decades, I have followed his journey with great interest. From my perspective, he is an extraordinary individual.

In 1986, after completing our CA exams, I began my own practice near the stock exchange, and I often saw Motilal seated on the staircase of Union Bank opposite the exchange, absorbed in deep thought. Despite his serious demeanour, I underestimated his commitment to his future in the stock market. I never imagined that he was so dedicated to realizing his dreams. Today, we all know how he transformed his vision into reality.

Motilal was not among the top students in our hostel, but he demonstrated how to fully utilize one's intellect and determination to achieve extraordinary goals. Now, when I see him, he appears younger than he did in 1986.

He has managed to reverse the aging process, a testament to his belief that health is wealth and that true wealth means little without good health.
