Zoroastrians seek holiday on Nowruz

Nowruz, the New Year's Day, celebrated by Parsi-Zoroastrians, Baha'is and Iranians, has been mentioned again in the latest UNESCO's list of 'Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity'.

Zoroastrians seek holiday on Nowruz

The festival now has 13 countries as participants, making it a global festival.

Also swelled as Nawrouz, Nauroj and Navroz, the festival is held on the first day of spring, marking the equinox on March 21 when the day and night are of equal duration worldwide. The festival is the biggest annual celebration in Iran and Central Asia. In India, followers of religions that originated in Iran, like Zoroastrians and Bahaism, celebrate the day.
