The US president, on a brief stopover in the UK en route to the Nato summit in Vilnius, hailed the "rock-solid" friendship between the UK and the US.
Biden did not attend the king's coronation in May, sending his wife, Jill, in his place. The visit to Windsor Castle for tea was said to be a reflection of the US president's appreciation of the seriousness with which Charles takes the climate crisis.
Along with his climate envoy, John Kerry, and the energy secretary, Grant Shapps, Biden met executives and philanthropists for a private discussion on climate finance for the world's poorest countries.
The king, an environmentalist for more than 50 years, launched the sustainable markets initiative in 2020, bringing together global CEOs to raise climate finance. He has also tried to make the Commonwealth a market leader in addressing the issue.
At Windsor Castle, Biden was afforded a royal salute and a rendition of the US national anthem courtesy of the Welsh Guards.
