After what is increasingly being seen as a strong showing for the Republican JD Vance over Tim Walz in the vice-presidential debate on Tuesday, and a week dominated by the devastation of Hurricane Helene and controversial statements from Trump and his wife, Melania, the Harris team will be hoping to inject fresh energy into their campaign.
Earlier this week Harris received public backing from Liz Cheney, one of Trump's fiercest Republican critics, in a remarkable joint appearance in Wisconsin that would have been unimaginable in the pre-Trump era.
Cheney appealed to the millions of undecided Americans who could decide the outcome of the 2024 election, asking them to "reject the depraved cruelty" of Trump.
The daughter of Dick Cheney, the Republican former vice-president, said she had never voted for a Democrat before, but would do so "proudly" to ensure Trump never held a position of public trust again. Her father will join her in casting his ballot for Harris.
Harris praised Cheney's "courage" for being willing to cross party lines to endorse - and campaign for - the Democratic nominee.
