CAPTAIN Joe Edwards thought Plymouth Argyle were worthy winners of League One this season after being pushed all the way by Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday in an incredible title race.
The Pilgrims finished their outstanding season with 31 wins and 101 points from 46 games after defeating Port Vale 3-1 in the Potteries. That left Steven Schumacher's Argyle three points clear of runners-up Ipswich, who drew 2-2 at Fleetwood Town in their final match.
Wednesday were third on 96 points after beating Derby County 1-0 at Hillsborough and will now have to contest the play-offs as they bid to join Argyle and Ipswich in the Championship next term.
Edwards said: "We deserve this. From the first minute to the last minute of the season we have been a credit to this football club.
