IT'S hard to believe it, but we're already half way through the 'Land Sea Sky' exhibition at The Box. If you haven't yet seen the show, it brings the work of three different artists together - Ingrid Pollard, Vija Celmins and JMW Turner and it's been really interesting to explore the connections between them all.
JMW Turner (1775-1851) is often celebrated for his expressive paintings of the sea, sky and land as well as his experiments with paint and materials to represent the effects of rapidly changing light. During his life he painted over 2,000 watercolours and 550 oil paintings that captured the many moods of the natural world. His work has had a lasting influence on modern and contemporary painters.
