Actor Kim returns to TRP after 21 years

AN actor who last performed at Theatre Royal Plymouth more than 20 years ago said she is delighted to be returning for a musical adaptation of a story written by pop star Tom Fletcher.

Kim Healey, now 38, grew up in Plympton and said it was performing on the TRP stage which sparked the idea of a career in theatre.

She is now starring in The Creakers, which has been adapted from the book by the McFly singer-songwriter and also features music by the pop idol.

It revolves around the idea of creatures who live under children’s beds and only come out at night – creaking their way around.

The show is previewing this Friday, October 25, and runs until Saturday, November 2, aiming to lure children who are on their half-term holiday.

Kim went to dance school in Plymouth and as a young actor was cast in shows including Les Mis and Oliver! before heading to London for further training. But that has meant a 21-year gap between performances on the TRP stage.

She said: “I did lots of community theatre growing up and performed a lot at TRP and it was there that sparked the idea that I could actually do it as a job.
