AN inquiry investigating whether British Special Forces murdered civilians and unarmed people on night raids in Afghanistan is preparing to hold “closed hearings” to protect their identity as they give key evidence.
The ‘Independent Inquiry Related to Afghanistan” became front page news earlier this year after former Plymouth MP and Veterans Minister Johnny Mercer was warned by the chair of the inquiry to provide a witness statement with the names of those who told him about alleged war crimes by Special Forces personnel during the conflict with the Taliban between 2010 and 2013.
