THE company which holds the long lease over Plymouth’s disused airport is to fight off moves by the city council to reclaim the land.
Sutton Harbour Group (SHG) has written to Plymouth City Council, denying it has broken covenants over the site and demanding the council’s threat to forfeit the lease is withdrawn.
It comes just days after the AIMlisted firm submitted plans which would see houses and a new road built at the 113-acre site, but retain the main runway for another five years. Plymouth City Council, along with the West Devon and South Hams local authorities, have said they want the site protected for aviation use until 2029.
