PLYMOUTH'S disused airport has gone up in value by almost £150,000 in the past year and is now worth about £27m, according to the firm that holds its lease. The newly filed accounts for Plymouth City Airport Ltd show the company has also spent more than £1m on maintaining the site in the past two years and the costs are going up.
The company's accounts show it made a loss of £612,000 in 2022/23, up from £414,000 in a year earlier and an increase on the £326,000 loss it made in 2021. It appears maintaining the mothballed 113-acre site is a major drain on finances and the company said: "The loss reflects the costs associated with maintaining the former airport site and an apportionment of interest."
