Art therapy makes a real difference

IMAGINE not understanding humour or how to respond emotionally or even how you feel and think about yourself?
JUDI SPIERS
Art therapy makes a real difference

Imagine having been a brilliant teacher who has had a stroke and retained the knowledge but can no longer access it in order to teach. An artist struck down at the height of your career who can no longer paint, play that instrument, sing, or even in some cases speak, and certainly not to the level you did before an injury.

Imagine coming off your bike or suffering a blunt force trauma which requires open skull surgery to insert a titanium plate which can, in rare cases, sink into the brain and cause even more damage. Imagine still being you but your face dropping and continually drooling because your mouth and tongue just don't work anymore. Imagine remembering who you were and not being able to reconcile who you are now. The anger, the frustration.
