Avoid defeat and Parkway are safe from relegation
The Herald|April 26, 2024
PLYMOUTH Parkway gave themselves a fighting chance of staying in the Southern League Premier Division with a superb 3-1 win over Hayes & Yeading in a match they could not afford to lose on Wednesday night.

Avoid defeat and Parkway are safe from relegation

Manager Lee Hobbs was not shy in branding it a ‘must-win’ game for his side with Hayes & Yeading also in relegation danger. Defeat would have meant almost definite relegation for the loser and for Hayes & Yeading, it leaves them two points adrift of safety with a game to go – and that match is at Bracknell, who need a win to make the play-offs.

That looks like the third of four relegation berths is taken care of and for Parkway, the win moved them out of the relegation zone. They are a point above the parapet and head to Beaconsfield Town today knowing that, if they do not lose, they are safe. But Beaconsfield need the points as well as they are a point and a place above the dropzone with Swindon Supermarine the team occupying the final relegation berth right now.

Supermarine are at home to Winchester Town tomorrow, a team that have nothing to play for. So it is one from Parkway, Beaconsfield and Swindon Supermarine that will join Didcot Town, Harrow Borough and probably Hayes & Yeading in being relegated.
