Mumba, the £1 million club record signing on a four-year contract from Norwich City last July, was used in a number of different roles last term, starting off in a wide left attacking role in the 4-3-3 formation adopted by former manager Steven Schumacher for Argyle’s return to the Championship after a 13-year absence.
It was a move designed to exploit the pace and directness of Mumba, who had showed an eye when he scored six goals during his highly successful season-long loan with the Pilgrims from Norwich in 2022/23.
