Bikers fear restrictions on parking at Barbican

MOTORCYCLISTS who park their bikes at the Barbican’s Quay Square will be allowed to do so for free – but car drivers risk huge fines if they do not abide by new rules banning them from the area, following instances of ‘inconsiderate parking’.

Concerns were raised by bikers who recently spotted new parking notices that appeared to ban all vehicles from the area where motorcyclists have parked their bikes for decades. One rider said he was so concerned that he wrote to Plymouth City Council questioning the move, and wondered whether this could have a detrimental effect on eateries that had enjoyed the custom of bikers for many years.
