Burglar raided woman's home 3 times in 1 night

A BURGLAR has been jailed after he admitted entering a disabled woman's home three times in one night, stealing cash, pain relief medicine and her car which he later dumped.

Gareth Treharne, aged 46, of George Place, Stonehouse, was arrested by police following what police said were a series of incidents at a property in Stoke.

He admitted two counts of burglary with intent to steal, two counts of burglary, one count of taking a car without the owner's consent and one count of possession of class A heroin.

Prosecutor Katie Churcher told Plymouth Crown Court how the victim - who attended court in her wheelchair to see justice done - had woken up on the morning of June 27 to find her purse with £430, medicine and car missing. Checking her Ring doorbell footage she discovered that a man had entered her home on three occasions during the course of the previous night and early hours of the morning.

In a victim impact statement that the woman read out at a previous hearing, she said she was left feeling "like a prisoner in the one place I should feel safe".
