Carpetright's city store survives chain closures

FOUR of Devon’s Carpetright stores are to shut after the chain collapsed into administration – but Plymouth’s has survived.

The outlets in Barnstaple, Exeter, Newton Abbot and Torquay are on a list of 231 stores expected to close during the next few days with jobs lost and anyone who has ordered goods expected to lose their money.

But the Plymouth outlet, at the Marsh Mills Retail Park off the A38, is among 54 Carpetright stores, and two warehouses, acquired by flooring retailer Tapi, along with the brand and intellectual property, in a pre-pack administration deal.
