A COMMUNITY stalwart has raised more than £1,000 by shaving her hair off in the same week that she found out she had been named South West Volunteer of the Year for the Keep Fit Association.
Glyn Anscombe, who lives in Derriford, ‘braved the shave’ for Macmillan Cancer at the end of her regular fitness class at Pennycross Church Hall in Peverell.
Glyn, 66, has already raised £1,150 for the charity and hopes to hit the £2,000 mark thanks to the generosity of supporters. Yet she said it is entirely coincidental that her exploits came in the same week that she was named SW Volunteer of the Year by the KFA. Having worked for Devon and Cornwall Police, Glyn has not rested in her retirement years but has been an active member of the Plymouth Keep Fit Association.
She kept members exercising during lockdown, as well as regularly being involved in classes at several locations in more recent times.
