A PLYMOUTH butcher has explained why he converted to Islam, as he prepares to mark Ramadan, which means going without food during daylight hours for a month.
Adam Bowden-Black, 47, converted to Islam in 2016. He was working as a butcher in a halal shop, prior to becoming a Muslim, and one day a customer he was serving inspired him to find a new faith.
Adam now follows the five pillars of Islam, including praying five times a day and following Ramadan.
Prior to converting, Adam says he was an atheist but had worked in halal shops since 2013.
Adam explains: “It was basically me thinking, hang on, all this time, every time I come to work I’m happy and the easiest way of describing it is that this gives me happiness inside.
