AN investigation has begun after a dead dog was thrown into a bin and ended up at Plymouth’s recycling centre. One worker called the discovery “disgusting” and said it was the latest in a string of nauseating finds at the Chelson Meadow Recycling Centre.
Other dead pets also put into green recycling bins include cats and rabbits - and even a snake. Workers have also been confronted with human faeces and hypodermic needles.
Plymouth City Council, which owns the facility, was stunned by the latest grim discovery and said dead animals should not be put into bins, but a vet should be contacted. Meanwhile, the RSPCA is looking into the incident.
The dog was found by workers who were removing electronics and metals from a conveyor, last Wednesday, March 5. One of the team, Julie Dawson, was called to deal with the find.
She is an animal lover and volunteer at Woodside Animal Sanctuary and Gables Dogs and Cats Home, and carries a chip scanner to identify animals.

USA not an 'ally' we can continue to put trust in
IT was not until 1917, three years into the First World War, that the United States participated in the conflict. That followed Germany's unwise decision to implement a policy of unrestricted submarine warfare which resulted in the sinking of US civilian ships and the loss of American lives. If Germany had respected American neutrality, the outcome of the war could have been very different.
