Double success in pole dancing championships

TWO women have become champions in their respective categories at one of the UK's most prestigious pole dancing competitions. Clare Thomas, 42, and Ezme, 25, were both awarded first place at the UK Professional Pole Championships in Telford last weekend - Clare competing in the instructor category and Ezme winning the elite category.

Pole dancing as a competitive activity has seen a rise in popularity in recent years with more and more people choosing to take up the sport. Both Clare and Ezme have been perfecting their craft for six to seven years and impressed judges with self-choreographed routines.

Clare said the UKPPC is the most prestigious competition for pole dancers, and said performing on a 365-degree stage added an extra challenge.

She added: "When I started pole, it was the pinnacle to get up on that stage and I honestly never thought I would."

But both her and Ezme made it through the first round - a video sent into eight judges and qualified for the main competition which featured a four-minute self-choreographed routine.
