Streets are becoming blocked with traffic in the evening rush hour between 4pm and 6pm, as part of a road in Coxside is closed for three weeks due to gas works.
Clovelly Road is closed to through traffic until September 16, with the exception of lorries needing to get in and out of Victoria Wharf (via Commercial Road).
However, many vehicles have been heading down Commercial Road towards Clovelly Road – despite signs warning drivers that the “road ahead is closed”.
This – combined with residents heading home after work and workers in the area trying to leave the vicinity at 5pm – is said to be causing “chaos”.
