The road remained closed for more than 15 hours after the collision which took place on 6.20pm on Monday, February 5. Pictures from the scene show police tape and cordons remaining in place.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "At 6.20pm on Monday, February 5, a motorcycle collided with a pedestrian on Beacon Park Road in Plymouth. The rider left the scene with the motorcycle prior to police arrival and enquiries are ongoing. As a result of the collision the pedestrian, a man in his 80s, has suffered potentially life-threatening Injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital.
"We'd like to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage or CCTV. Information can be reported to police via 101 or on our website, quoting 0654 05/02/2024."
