As hot weather is here to stay this week, the temporary portable air conditioning units it has been using are not a long-term option and are not very cost-effective.
Plymouth's oldest animal rehoming centre has been working very hard to keep its residents cool during the hot weather. Now it has decided the time has come to install permanent air conditioning units in its kennels and catteries.
New units will also have the added benefit of providing heating during the winter months and will replace the very old and inefficient heat pads and radiant heating that was installed when Gables was built many years ago, but the cost for these commercial units to be installed in the buildings where they are most needed is £19,000.
