Gibson was ruled out of the 1-1 draw away to Huddersfield Town last Saturday after rolling an ankle during a training session at Harper’s Park a couple of days earlier. The 23-year-old still made the trip to West Yorkshire in the hope that he might be able to recover in time but that was not possible.
Foster said: “He’s progressing. It was just a really innocuous roll of the ankle. We will continue to assess him and give him the best opportunity. We gave him the best opportunity to play last week, he was just too sore. We will just wait and see on Lewis. He’s probably 50-50 at the moment.”
Argyle left-sided defender Saxon Earley has returned to training this week after being out of action since August due to an ankle ligament injury.
The 21-year-old had started successive games against Leyton Orient in the Carabao Cup first round and Watford in the Championship before he picked up the problem in training and it has proved difficult for him to overcome.
