Gill's year of slimming sees her shed six stone

A WOMAN from Plymouth has lost an impressive six stone after making some simple changes to her eating habits. Gill Smith joined the Sherford Slimming World group at the end of January 2024, and has gone on to achieve her personal ‘target weight’ in less than a year.

Gill now regularly attends Debbie Malone’s group in Plympton and has noticed a huge difference in her physical and mental health since joining the group.

She said: “The final straw that made me join Slimming World was the thought that I was no use to anyone. I was very close to ending my life due to pain in my back and depression.

“What I love the most about food optimising is that no foods are off limits. I think the word ‘diet’ sets you up for failure because if you tell others you are on one, they judge what you eat! When optimising, you have a much wider scope to enjoy the food and still lose weight. Small changes like adding more veg and using fry light instead of regular oil makes all the difference.
