Devon and Cornwall 4x4 Response is a group of unpaid 4x4 drivers who are willing to put their specialist vehicles and skills at the disposal of the Emergency Services and other public bodies, for emergency logistical support.
They were recently named community organisation of the year in recognition of all the work they do for charity.
During the Keyham drama, a total of 24 responders helped out for a total of 490 hours, during which time the group's members travelled a total of 2,656 miles.
The responders were tasked with moving members of the emergency services in and around the cordon area and with transporting vulnerable people out of the area with designated chaperons.
