Despite a promising start to that loss at Hungerford Town, everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong for the Yellows as they capitulated in spectacular fashion to leave the manager far from impressed with what he saw at full-time - and issuing an apology to those supporters that travelled.
Hobbs didn’t shirk his post-match interview duties with the club media – win, lose or draw, he never does – and it was understandably tough given emotions were running so high in the immediate aftermath of such a damaging defeat. But a few days on from that dark day, Hobbs was his usual fighting self as he looked ahead to the club’s first home league game of the season and the visit of Gosport.
“Emotions are all over the place in the immediate aftermath, but by the time you get back to the training ground, 72 hours later, and take the emotion out of it, it’s all a bit different and more controlled,” said Hobbs.
