DEVON and Cornwall Police have suspended two 'members' after the Independent Office for Police Conduct investigators launched a criminal investigation into breaches of health and safety legislation and evidence given at the Keyham inquest.
The police watchdog has now admitted it had "informed two members of Devon and Cornwall Police that they are being criminally investigated". In addition, the watchdog said it had "served the two individuals with gross misconduct notices." The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has said that as a result of its investigation Devon and Cornwall Police have suspended the two "members". In response to questions from The Herald the IOPC has confirmed that its inquiries have now led to a criminal investigation.
An IOPC spokesperson said: "We can confirm we have informed two members of Devon and Cornwall Police that they are being criminally investigated. We have also served the two individuals with gross misconduct notices.
