A LANDSCAPE gardener at a Plymouth residential home has broken his personal record by growing sunflowers to an incredible height of 14ft.
Mark Brown has built and tended the gardens at Plymbridge House in Plympton for 13 years, with his sunflowers being a small part of a giant floral display which regularly earns compliments from both staff and visitors.
Mr Brown said his sunflowers are bigger than ever this year at 14ft, which is well above the normal height for sunflowers, which range from 8-10ft.
He said lessons learned over the years have helped him boost the size of the display - despite a relatively cloudy summer.
"I made the garden from scratch," he said.
