PAST and present judges, barristers, solicitors, court staff, security and close colleagues took part in a moving farewell tribute to a former Plymouth Crown Court resident judge who recently died having only retired in 2020.
Judge Paul Darlow retired as a circuit judge on April 4, 2020, having been appointed the resident judge of Plymouth Crown Court in 2012.
The 72-year-old passed last month after battling a serious illness.
He was highly regarded by court staff and those in the legal profession, as witnessed by the large number who turned out to attend the tribute at Plymouth Crown Court last month, which included former court reporters from The Herald.
Judge Darlow frequently made headlines, not just in the South West but also nationally, not just for his sentencing remarks, but also due to his no-nonsense approach to those who displeased him in court or who did not behave appropriately.
