Parkway battle back for first home league win

The clash with the Dorset side, who sat comfortably in 11th place in the table following their title winning last season which gained them promotion, was the first time the clubs had met.

The match got underway on a slippery surface following rain in the afternoon. On two minutes, good play down Parkway’s left between Tom Dean, Frankie Monk and Ryan Brett saw a telling cross cut out for a corner by the visiting defence, but the corner failing to trouble them.

Wimborne won their first corner on four minutes and it again came to nothing, although Mikey Williams had to take one to the face in defending it, recovering quickly after.

The first shot of the match came on seven minutes when a break from Williams saw him play in Monk who shot from 25 yards forcing a save from Alex Rutter.

Wimborne threatened on 10 minutes when a dangerous break by Cameron Munn saw him beat Taylor Scarff and he appeared to be going one-on-one with ‘keeper Harry Lee, but a last-ditch sliding tackle from Williams stopped the attack.

On 15 minutes, the visitors took the lead. A cross from the right was cut out for a corner which was taken on the right by Josh Carmichael and striker Will Fletcher met the delivery from 10 yards out with an unchallenged thumping header which powered past Lee.

On 17 minutes, a Parkway raid down their left saw Jack Endacott force a corner. The ball fell to Mitch Beardmore who shot weakly past the post.

On 19 minutes, a cross from Carmichael saw Fletcher win a header in the box from 15 yards but this time it travelled wide of the post.

A good build up by Parkway on 24 minutes resulted in Joe Wragg blazing over the bar from 20 yards.

On 31 minutes, an excellent move from the visitors, switching play from left to right, saw Lewis Beale slide the ball through to Cameron Munn, with Lee making a good stop to keep Parkway in contention.
