Pilgrims putting their faith in Hardie

MIRON Muslic believes Ryan Hardie can be the answer to Plymouth Argyle's lack of goals, even though the striker is still not pain free after a recent back injury.

Hardie returned to action as a half-time substitute in the 3-0 Championship defeat by Sheffield Wednesday at Home Park on Saturday after missing the previous four matches. Goalscoring has been a problem for Argyle all season but Hardie had hit form and netted five times in three games before he was ruled out.

Without him the Pilgrims struggled to create scoring chances let alone score goals from any of them. After picking up just two points from their last five matches they are back at the bottom of the Championship table and the threat of relegation is looming large over them.

Even though Hardie is not fully fit, Muslic has not ruled out the possibility of him starting the Championship game against in-form Portsmouth at Fratton Park tomorrow (7.45pm). "We will see. This day (Tuesday) was another positive step," said the Pilgrims' boss.

"He's not pain free, he's not 100 per cent but we are just in a situation where we are lacking of other solutions. We are simply lacking of players who are capable to have this goal threat a la Hardie so we will try to push and he's ready to go all in."

Muslic was asked at a Press conference at Home Park this lunchtime about what could be done to increase the number of scoring chances and goals. "Ryan was the solution when he was available for us and we adapted even the position for him and the tactical approach so we can take advantage out of his profile," replied the Pilgrims' boss.

USA not an 'ally' we can continue to put trust in

IT was not until 1917, three years into the First World War, that the United States participated in the conflict. That followed Germany's unwise decision to implement a policy of unrestricted submarine warfare which resulted in the sinking of US civilian ships and the loss of American lives. If Germany had respected American neutrality, the outcome of the war could have been very different.
