Raiders go down to first home defeat
The Herald|January 28, 2025
IN THIS new era of basketball for the Plymouth Raiders, reminders of the club's long and winding history frequently crop up, and last Sunday was no different with the Raiders facing the Brighton Bears, a familiar name from the club's days in the British Basketball League.

Raiders go down to first home defeat

PLYMOUTH RAIDERS......................65
BRIGHTON BEARS................71

The last time both of these teams met was back in 2006, when the Raiders walked away with a 90-78 victory. On that day, Bears were coached by current Philadelphia 76ers coach Nick Nurse, TV personality and basketball pundit Drew Lasker was donning the famous green jersey and current Raider Ali Gall ended that day with 15 points.

These days, both clubs find themselves in more humble surroundings, in National Basketball's Division Three.

Raiders came into the game after a defeat on the road to Bracknell last weekend, a game in which Tom Woods and Tom Elliot-Smith both made their return from injury. Both would end the day as Raiders top two points scorers with 13 and 20 points respectively.
